Group Materials
The material collected here is designed to encourage communities of faith to use BONHOEFFER as a focus for adult discussion groups, bible study classes and continuing education courses. The film portrays Dietrich Bonhoeffer in his search for the will of God, in his defense of the social gospel, in his struggle between pacifism and assassination plots, and in his core understanding of the interconnectedness of every single person.
Included here are simple tips for discussion leaders, links to articles with discussion questions to help promote understanding of the issues raised in the film, PDF formatted posters to build awareness of the broadcast and discussion events, and a simple set of tips to help the group discussion leader prepare and guide participants through an inquiry into the key tenets of the story.
SUGGESTIONS FOR THE GROUP DISCUSSION LEADER
Here are a few tips to keep in mind as you prepare...
You want everyone to see the film before the discussion group meets. The PBS broadcast is scheduled for Monday, February 6, 2006 at 10 PM EST (check local listings). Please note that individual stations are free to create their own programming schedule. Check local listings for your area by going to www.pbs.org and entering your zip code on the home page.
If you want to screen the film with your group, you may order videotape or DVD copies of BONHOEFFER at the Journey Films Online Store.
For posters to help promote the film:
- If you are going to encourage your group members to see the PBS broadcast, you can click here to download a PDF file that will let you print out copies of the broadcast version of the poster. It bears the date and time of the PBS broadcast. Post them well in advance where people will see them.
